“I just have to let you know how many wonderful comments we’ve had about the photos, people just cannot get over them. Every time I send someone the link they reply “your photographer is INCREDIBLE” – I of course reply saying “I know”!!!”
Lara
Three times, L+L had to cancel and rearrange their wedding….. three times! But boy oh boy was it worth the wait! It’s sometimes easy to forget a little where the wedding industry was in and around lockdown and for a lot of couples and wedding suppliers it really was a tough place to be. However! I have to say I was really blessed to have Lara & Louis as a couple! They always made sure I was available for the new date each time they had to move the wedding and I’m so glad they did – this wedding was awesome! I was lucky enough to get to know L+L over a long time because of all the postponements and chats we had and the wedding really felt that extra bit special because of it!
Lower House Farm sits in the Olchon Valley, right up against the Black Mountains. Seventy acres, a brook running through it, and a barn that has been standing since the seventeenth century. Most couples get married under the oak by the water — it is about six hundred years old and does not need decorating. There is a covered yard if the weather turns, and the food comes out of a woodfired kitchen in the open air. It is run by Wild by Nature.
They chose to get married at Lower House Farm in Herefordshire and it’s a stunner of a wedding venue! It’s a picturesque and romantic location with rolling hills and L + L definitely took full advantage. Hiking up that dress and powering up the mountains in her cool white Armani wedding shoes, Lara was more than happy to make a bit of time for some couple photos amongst the stunning surroundings. With hugs, cries, lots of love and lots of dancing, this was an absolute ripper! Lara + Louis are just the nicest couple you could ever meet and certainly brought the vibes to their wedding day at Lower House Farm.
It’s been a while since the wedding and a while since I last blogged but I really did have a blast with these guys and I wish them all the best! Congrats again guys, you rocked your photos!

The dog didn’t come. She went to a sitter, which was a shame — Lara and Louis are daft about her, and I’m no better, having one of my own. But anyone who has owned a golden retriever knows exactly why. They don’t mean anything by it. They just walk into a room and things start happening. Would have liked to have seen her on that dancefloor, mind.

Before the ceremony
Nobody really talks about the bit before the bit. Lara’s dad came into the room, saw the dress, and had about four seconds of holding it together before he gave up entirely. I have photographed that moment more times than I can count and it has never once looked the same twice.

The walk up that hill is steeper than it looks in a photograph. Lara went up it holding her dress above her knees in white Armani shoes and was completely unbothered, which tells you most of what you need to know about her.

One thing worth knowing if you are getting married here: the valley does something odd with the light. It drops behind the mountains earlier than you would expect, so golden hour arrives sooner and finishes faster than it would somewhere flat on the same date. Worth stealing ten minutes while it is happening rather than planning it for after the speeches.
